BPEC Certification Defined Scope Electrical Competence Scheme

(Complying with Part P of the Building Regulations 2005)

Course Content

The course is divided into 8 training modules followed by one full day of assessment. The modules are:-

  • Basic principles
  • Legislation & regulations
  • Electrical safety
  • Installation theory 1
  • Installation theory 2
  • Installation theory 3
  • Installation practical
  • Testing & documentation

The course finishes with an assessment day where candidates complete 7 practical tasks and a written test paper.

Who is the course for?

Candidates who wish to develop the competence to allow them to carry out limited scope electrical installation work in dwellings. It references only those skills necessary to carry out domestic electrical installation work in accordance with the standard circuit arrangements. The candidates will not be considered to have achieved the recognised competence required to operate as an Electrician.

Part P divides companies into three different classifications known as Level A, Level B and Level C depending on the scope of work activities they undertake.

Level A :Can complete all electrical work in domestic premises (usually electrical contractors).
Level B: Can install new circuits.
Level C: Can only extend existing circuits

This course covers Level B and Level C only.

Entry Requirements

Competent, qualified trades people who, as part of their job, work on electrical installations in domestic premises.

Learning Outcome

BPEC Certification Ltd have developed this course to deliver training and assessment to satisfy the requirements of Part P of the Building Regulations 2005. It is designed for non electrical personnel who work on electrical systems in domestic premises as part of their day to day duties. The scheme is accredited by CORGI but is operated and certificated by BPEC Certification Ltd.
Success on this scheme will enable students to apply for “Registered Competent Person” for Part P

Please note: You must still apply to become “Part P” registered as a Competent Person with one of the registering bodies it can not be included in this course.
